When it comes to selling lottery, one North Carolina retailer is showing you can expand your reach without expanding your physical footprint.
With Linq3’s Play at the Pump technology, Winston-Salem-based Quality Oil can now bring lottery to on-the-go consumers at its fuel-and-go kiosks throughout North Carolina.
Typically, industry-standard fuel kiosks cannot support many lottery technologies, such as lottery vending machines, due to limited real estate. But Play at the Pump helps Quality Oil, overcome this challenge. No matter the store format, Linq3 provides all c-store retailers an additional point of purchase with zero additional hardware. The technology from Linq3 integrates with retailers’ pre-existing point of sale solutions to provide players a convenient way to play lottery, right from the fuel pump.
“After a successful soft launch of Play at the Pump in Q3, we were eager to expand the solution to both our kiosks and full-service stores throughout the state. Not only does the technology provide an additional revenue stream, it also integrates with our Verifone Commander point of sale solution, allowing us to further leverage our investment with Verifone,” said Graham Bennett, Quality Oil president. “Now our customers have the convenience of playing draw lottery games as they fuel up, while we gain a chance to engage with those 65 to 70 percent of consumers who fuel-and-go.”
“Day by day, we’re working to help lotteries reach more players and retailers realize more revenue,” said Daniel Cage, Linq3 president and founder. “Forward-thinking partners such as Quality Oil and Verifone help make that vision a reality. Together we’re helping retailers install innovative technologies to better engage with their customers.”
Quality Oil’s adoption of Play at the Pump resulted from a partnership between Verifone and Linq3 penned earlier this year. Now, North Carolina retailers using Verifone Commander Site Controller can adopt the lottery technology. Play at the Pump also integrates with Gilbarco forecourt point of sale technologies and plans to add NCR RPOS by the end of 2016. Interested retailers can contact their local NCEL representative.
