Credit cards with encrypted chips, requiring a personal identification number to access, represent the latest weapon in the battle against counterfeiters, reports The Des Moines Register. Industry experts say 90 to 95 percent of credit cards in the U.S. will have the chips within two years, writes Marco Santana of The Register.
Now, they say, just 1 to 5 percent of U.S. credit cards use the technology.
