The National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) announced that it will continue a 35-yearlong partnership with Heil Trailer International in recognizing the safest bulk carriers in the industry with the Outstanding Safety Performance Awards.

NTTC’s Outstanding Safety Performance Awards are open to all for-hire and private fleet carrier members of NTTC. This prestigious award recognizes the best tank truck safety programs in two mileage divisions: Harvison, which is 15 million miles and above, and Sutherland, which is less than 15 million miles. The Mileage Divisions are named after the first two and longest-serving NTTC presidents: Austin Sutherland (1945 – 1972) and his successor, Cliff Harvison (1972 – 2005).

Each competing company is then rated on accident frequency, safety record improvement, carrier’s driver selection and training, vehicle maintenance program, personnel safety program and record, along with contributions to the cause of general highway safety.

“We’re very pleased to construct a long-term partnership agreement with our friends at Heil Trailer International,” said NTTC President Daniel R. Furth. “Heil Trailer’s renewed commitment to our Outstanding Safety Performance program underscores the shared values of both carriers and suppliers within the tank truck industry. We must consistently work together to maintain our industry’s envious position as one of the safest segments in trucking.”

“We are proud to continue our partnership with NTTC on the Outstanding Safety Performance Awards and help emphasize the importance of safety in our industry,” said Doug Chapple, CEO of EnTrans International, parent company of Heil Trailer International. “Safety is the principal focus at Heil Trailer, so this partnership is an ideal fit for our company.”
