Town Pump Inc. recently finalized the rollout of the Gilbarco Veeder-Root Passport POS system at each of their 97 locations across Montana. The retailer, headquartered in Butte, Mont., selected Passport as the best system to enhance customer service and prepare for upcoming EMV liability shift deadlines.
Town Pump leadership had been searching for a POS system that would support evolving credit networks, loyalty programs, enable remote management and provide a foundation for pending changes due to the EMV liability shift. Town Pump preferred the Passport architecture over the other systems they evaluated; the separation of the payment functionality from the POS features provides a better foundation for the changes coming with EMV. Also the Insite360™ Passport remote management features supported their desire to simplify and have more control over their site operations.
“We have a longstanding partnership with Gilbarco on the forecourt,” said Town Pump CIO, Eric Reibsane. “Adding Passport to our technology portfolio has dramatically improved functionality, administration, and reliability in the POS arena. Gilbarco was an exceptional implementation partner and their experience was instrumental in the success of Passport deployment.”
Having been a long-time customer of Gilbarco’s fuel dispensers, Town Pump is well acquainted with the quality of the company’s service and support. The Gilbarco team was able to complete the conversion from Town Pump’s previous POS system easily, while also integrating Passport with their existing technology. Reibsane and his team were pleased with how Gilbarco’s team listened to their needs and implemented new features as a result of their input.
“It’s been a pleasure working with the Town Pump team and our local distributor to make sure that their rollout and integration with other systems went smoothly,” said Travis Bouck, Vice President Marketing North America at Gilbarco. “We’re looking forward to supporting their growth with our Passport development roadmap.”
“Gilbarco consistently provided the support necessary to ensure the rollout went smoothly,” said Reibsane. “Their 24/7/365 Help Desk in Greensboro gives outstanding service which complements our own Level One Help Desk, and their Authorized Service Contractor force is second to none.”
Passport POS is known in the industry for its streamlined design and easy to use touch screen that shortens new employee training time and speeds up the time it takes to serve customers.
