Tank users, tank fabricators, and tank regulators are needed to serve on the Steel Tank Institute’s Standards Review Committee.
The purpose of the committee is to review and make recommendations for changes to STI Standards involving inspection and repair of shop-fabricated ASTs. Currently, these standards are STI SP001, Standard for the Inspection of Aboveground Storage Tanks; and STI SP031, Repair of Shop-Fabricated ASTs.
It is expected that revised SP001 and SP031 standards will be published by the end of 2016.
The first meeting will be face-to-face and last one day. It is anticipated that the first meeting will be in March 2016. The purpose of the first meeting is to develop goals for the committee.
Subsequent meetings will occur by teleconference, each lasting about one hour. Initially, we will schedule calls on a monthly basis.
Interested parties may complete the Application for Committee Membership and send to STI via email or via fax to 847-438-8766. Final appointment of committee members is determined by the Committee Chair and STI Technical Committee, based on the qualifications of the applicant and maintenance of a balanced committee.
