SmartDrive Systems, a leader in driving performance solutions that reduce collisions and improve fuel efficiency, announced at the National Private Truck Council (NPTC) Annual Conference and Exhibition that it has integrated with McLeod Software, an advanced transportation management software for carriers, brokers and shippers.

No longer needing to rely on driver dispatch records, transportation fleets using both systems will now be able to easily manage driver records in the SmartDrive System directly from McLeod and automatically associate drivers to driving events. The result for joint customers is absolute accuracy of information between the two systems, elimination of redundant activities and speed to deployment of the SmartDrive program based on McLeod data.

“We share a similar vision with SmartDrive—enable fleets to get the most value out of their fleet management system and technology investments,” commented Robert Brothers, Manager of Product Development at McLeod. “McLeod is always looking for ways to more tightly align vendor application data in the transportation management system. For that reason, we believe this integration is a perfect fit between our two platforms.”

The new capabilities with McLeod take advantage of the open platform and integration capabilities of the SmartDrive program, which allow fleets to leverage existing investments on and off truck, streamline processes and improve operational efficiencies as personnel interact with a range of systems. This first-of-its-kind integration allows data to be managed and maintained in the McLeod system while leveraging web services to manage the communication between the two systems—enabling fleets to automate the creation and delivery of driver schedules to SmartDrive for association with driving events, as well as import and update driver information in SmartDrive based on information and changes made in McLeod.

The integration improves efficiencies by leveraging work that has already been done in McLeod. For joint customers, this integration improves operational efficiency and delivers an enterprise approach to driver management in both video safety and TMS.

“We’re excited to partner with industry leader, McLeod Software,” stated Mark Freitas, SmartDrive Vice President, Product Management. “This integration enables fleets to drive the most value from their fleet management ecosystem and is further proof of our overall product strategy—improve operational efficiencies by allowing fleets to take advantage of existing infrastructure.”
