The Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee plans to hold a hearing on the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) later this month, however, RFS reform legislation isn’t expected to be introduced, reports the Petroleum Marketers Association of America (PMAA) in its Weekly Review newsletter.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee also plans to reach a consensus on RFS reform legislation, the newsletter reports, but it is unclear whether that goal will be reached. There have been reports that the House might try to attach RFS reform language to debt-ceiling legislation, which Congress must address by mid-October, notes the newsletter. In the meantime, lawmakers are pressuring EPA to lower the corn-based 2014 RFS blending volume mandate.
The latest 2014 RFS proposed rule has been sent to the White House for review, the newsletter reports, but the language hasn’t been released to the public. PMAA says it plans to submit comments once the proposed rule becomes available.
