Ryder System, Inc., a leader in commercial fleet management, dedicated transportation and supply chain solutions, announced that all new vehicles that come into its North American commercial rental fleet will now include innovative safety technologies, such as forward-looking radar and collision mitigation systems. The new vehicles will become the standard specification for Ryder’s commercial rental fleet as the company responds to increasing demand from customers looking to improve fleet performance, safety and driver job satisfaction.
“With this investment in innovative safety features such as forward-looking radar and collision mitigation systems, we are helping customers address critical business priorities—fleet efficiency, over-the-road safety, driver retention and recruiting,” said Richard Mohr, Vice President & Global Product Manager, Ryder Rental Operations. “This is one more way we are demonstrating our commitment to maximizing the performance of our customers’ fleets, while providing the flexibility and convenience of a rental solution. Ryder takes pride in offering the latest fleet technologies to help its rental customers mitigate overall risk and increase safety for everyone on the road.”
Ryder has offered these innovative safety technologies as an available option to its ChoiceLease customers for several years, and the company is now making those technologies standard for the first time within its Commercial Rental product line for new vehicles being delivered into service this spring. Ryder’s fleet of vehicles incorporates many other advanced technologies including automated manual transmissions, roll stability controls and telematics. The company also utilizes video monitoring and management systems in its Dedicated Transportation Solution (DTS) fleet. Ryder continually monitors emerging fleet technologies and works closely with leading technology providers and equipment manufacturers to provide feedback around functionality, usability and adaptability.
Ryder has a long track record of consistently improving the performance, safety and reliability of commercial vehicles. With these new safety standards, Ryder continues its leadership in advanced vehicle technology, and builds on its strategy of providing customers with the most flexibility, choice and control in fleet management. These technologies aim to reduce the possibility of vehicle crashes, while also providing a cost benefit to Ryder customers.
