Even without a northern connection to Canada, the Keystone XL southern leg that is nearing completion in Texas will move a lot more oil to the Gulf Coast, reports Fuel Fix.
It will add 700,000 barrels per day of pipeline capacity, boosting current capacity by 27 percent, writes Zain Shauk of Fuel Fix.
Until 2011, most pipeline capacity connected to the Gulf Coast was actually moving oil away from the region, with a maximum of only 250,000 barrels per day coming south in pipelines, according to the Fuel Fix article, which cites data from energy information firm Genscape.
