Omnitracs, LLC, a global pioneer of fleet management solutions to transportation and logistics companies, announced that it has completed testing on an electronic logging device (ELD) solution that meets the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA’s) ELD mandate, which goes into effect on December 18, 2017.

Omnitracs offers an application package for its telematics devices that tracks hours of service (HOS), a key component of the ELD mandate designed to improve safety on the road. Following a long and rigorous testing process, Omnitracs’ Intelligent Vehicle Gateway (IVG) is registered with the FMCSA on their self-certification list and ensures that fleet customers with current Omnitracs solutions will be compliant with the ELD mandate prior to the deadline.

“Although many of our customers have been using automatic on-board recording devices (AOBRDs) for years, the mandate means that fleets must take a closer look at their practices to ensure compliance,” said David Vice, Omnitracs CSO. “Early on, we committed the resources necessary to develop and test a road-ready solution. We take our position as a leader and innovator in the fleet management industry very seriously and are committed to maintaining a standard of excellence with our product offerings and customer service initiatives.”

As additional preparation for the ELD mandate, Omnitracs enhanced its system architecture and security measures to handle the anticipated increase in data traffic. To improve the user experience, Omnitracs also updated its entire suite of applications to improve safety, productivity and ease-of-use.
