Sunoco announced that Lisa Chapman of Jordan, N.Y., is the winner of its 2013 Free Fuel 5000 promotion. She wins 5,000 gallons of Sunoco fuel as the grand-prize recipient.

Chapman, who works in the delivery business, logs at least 50,000 miles annually. She stops at Sunoco every day to refuel and grab a soda at an APlus store.

On August 12th, spotters sighted the Sunoco decal on Chapman’s silver Ford Freestyle at the Taft Road Sunoco in Syracuse. She instantly took home a Sunoco gift card, two 3D movie upgrades to see DreamWorks Animation’s Turbo in theaters, and was entered to win the grand prize of 5,000 gallons – enough fuel to last a typical driver eight years. She was notified of her prize by email.

Spotters were at the Sunoco APlus, 5136 W. Taft Road in Liverpool, N.Y., on Nov. 8 to hand out more gift cards to the first 100 drivers displaying a Sunoco decal between noon and 1 p.m. Chapman accepted her prize inside the Liverpool APlus store at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 8.

Chapman had been sporting the Sunoco decal for three years.

“Now I can actually take a vacation!” she said, after winning enough gas to drive around the world four times. First trip – to visit family in Tennessee with her sister. When they originally contemplated the trip, the sisters were going to split the gas, but now, “She says I’m paying for it.”

Sunoco is the official fuel of NASCAR and more than 50 other racing sanctions. The Free Fuel 5000 is Sunoco’s signature promotion, offering millions of Sunoco customers a decal identical to those on every racecar in NASCAR’s three top series. Throughout the promotion, spotters looked for the decal on vehicles at Sunoco stations.

Over the course of the two-month event, between July and August, more than 7,000 Sunoco customers instantly won a Sunoco gift card, 3D movie upgrades for Turbo, and were entered for the chance to win the grand prize. “We are thrilled by the support from loyal Sunoco drivers every time we spot them visiting our retail locations with the decal,” said Drew Kabakoff, director of brand marketing.

Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pa., Sunoco is part of the Energy Transfer family of companies. Energy Transfer Partners is a New York Stock Exchange traded partnership owning and operating a diversified portfolio of energy assets.

Sunoco’s retail business markets its brand of gasoline through approximately 5,300 retail outlets from Maine to Florida and west to Indiana and Louisiana, operating more than 600 APlus convenience stores.
