Leighton O’Brien, a leading fuel analytics software and field technologies company, announced the appointment of fuel retail industry leader Neil Thomas to the company’s Board as a Non-Executive Director, effective 1 July.
Thomas has more than 30 years’ experience in the global energy industry including almost 15 years leading Wayne Fueling Systems before successfully completing the sale of the business to Dover Corporation in 2016.
With a focus on value creation for global industrial and technology businesses, he has successfully led several large M&A transactions and has a strong track record of driving growth and improved profitability through product and technology innovation.
Most recently he was President and CEO of Trojan Battery Company, the world’s leading manufacturer of deep-cycle energy storage solutions, where he led a rapid company turnaround resulting in its successful sale to new private equity owners.
During his tenure as CEO of Wayne Fueling Systems, he strategically positioned the company as a technology leader focused on retail fueling equipment and services and completed several acquisitions and joint ventures.
He has also held several marketing, sales and strategy roles at Chevron Corporation and Tokheim and was a senior management consultant at UK firm Arthur D. Little.
Leighton O’Brien Co-Founder and CEO Reed Leighton said Mr Thomas’ appointment would add immense strategic depth to the company.
“Neil brings significant expertise in value creation for global businesses through technology innovation, which aligns with our strategic growth plans both in and beyond the petroleum industry,” Mr Leighton said.
“His experience, insights and counsel further strengthens the Board’s mix of skills and knowledge as we continue to position the company in an IoT future.”
Thomas said it was an exciting time to join the company.
“I’m pleased to be joining Leighton O’Brien to work with the outstanding leadership team to help achieve the company’s vision to expand its global footprint and introduce exciting new technology solutions for fuel retailers.
“There is a real sense of momentum in the business and I’m excited to draw on my experience to help the company realise its growth ambitions,” he said.
