The United States lays claim to one of the largest and most complex and efficient fuel-supply chains in the world.

Last weekend it was announced that the Colonial Pipeline—the largest refined products pipeline in the country, transporting more than 100 million gallons of fuel daily—was the victim of a cybersecurity attack, which led to a temporary shutdown of its operations. When any type of disruption occurs within the fuel distribution system, it can have a significant effect on the availability of fuel.

Understanding the fundamentals of this complex system is essential to responding when market disruptions occur. Our report, “Assessment of the U.S. Fuel Distribution Network,” provides both a high level overview of the system and more specific information analyzing each component of the system.

We invite you to download both the Executive Brief and the Full Report at your convenience.
