TouchStar™, a multinational provider of logistics Enterprise and Mobility software solutions, announced with Ferrellgas, one of the nation’s largest distributors of propane, today that its propane delivery automation solution has been deployed throughout Ferrellgas’ 2600 truck fleet.

After piloting the system, Ferrellgas has implemented TouchStar’s GasPac Mobility solution, delivered on Honeywell CN70 devices, across its Bulk and Service fleets; with an additional implementation across its Cylinder fleet scheduled for completion in the spring of 2015. This solution interfaces with Ferrellgas’ existing ERP and back office systems, seamlessly capturing and transferring data to and from the field.

“Our previous system was designed to gather relevant data for operational reporting, but not necessarily to help our drivers be more efficient or provide the best possible experience for our customers,” said Boyd McGathey, Ferrellgas Chief Operating Officer. “Our goal was to implement a system that both improves efficiency in the field and captures that relevant data. TouchStar’s solution is very intuitive and was quickly and positively adopted by our drivers, with minimal training. We expect a three to four minute improvement per delivery due to this solution.”

“We are very pleased to be working with Ferrellgas on their fleet automation initiative,” said Peter Gibbs, TouchStar CEO. “Not only do I feel that we’re providing a solution that will enable them to meet long-term business goals and objectives, but this project has helped us further develop our product for the market. In working with a global leader such as Ferrellgas we’ve strengthened our presence within the industry and I look forward to continued collaboration with the Ferrellgas team in the future.”

Developed throughout more than 20 years of industry experience, TouchStar’s GasPac application is an ‘out-of-the-box’ solution designed to automate the entire propane delivery process – eliminating the need for error-prone manual calculations and paper processes. Data is entered into the handheld device, automatically calculated and sent to back office systems. Additionally, delivery tickets and invoices can be printed while on site, or emailed directly to the customer after delivery.
