American Trucking Associations (ATA) President and CEO Chris Spear announced that the trucking group has promoted four longtime staffers and hired a new Vice President of Creative Services and Creative Director, and a new Director of Marketing as part of the federation’s continued retooling.

“ATA’s members count on the professional staff in Washington to be an advocate on their behalf and on behalf of the industry,” Spear said. “Being able to recognize and promote people—and add to our roster of first-class staff—is an important part of representing this industry. I’m proud of the work our staff does, and will do in being the leading voice of the trucking industry.”

ATA promoted four staffers—Dan Duggan, Henry Hanscom, Joe Hite and John Lynch—to new leadership positions within the association.

  • Lynch was named the new Senior Vice President of Federation Relations and Industry Affairs. Lynch has been with ATA since 2006 in a variety of positions, most recently as Vice President of Federation Relations and Intergovernmental Affairs. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Providence College and an MBA from George Washington University.
  • Hanscom was named the new Vice President of Legislative Affairs. An ATA staffer since 2013, Hanscom has been promoted twice, starting as a Manager of Legislative Affairs, and has been the Director of Legislative Affairs since 2014. Prior to joining ATA, Hanscom worked for Senator Olympia Snowe for eight years. He holds a degree from Colgate University.
  • Hite was named the new Vice President of Business Development. He has been with ATA since 2007, working with ATA’s councils and events staff, and most recently as the Director of Event Development. Hite is a graduate of West Virginia University.
  • Duggan was promoted to Director of Sponsorships and Exhibits from his previous position of Manager of Sponsorships and Exhibits. Duggan came to ATA in 2013 and recently received his Certification in Exhibition Management. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

In addition to these promotions, Spear announced the hiring of Tim Smith as ATA’s new Vice President of Creative Services and Creative Director and Julia Grove as Director of Marketing.

  • Smith was previously an award-winning art director with the National Restaurant Association where he spent two decades. He has a bachelor’s degree from Messiah College.
  • Grove comes to ATA after spending more than seven years at member company SkyBitz Inc., where she was most recently the telematics company’s Senior Marketing Manager. She has a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University.

“ATA’s members benefit greatly from the efforts of the top-notch team these people belong to,” said ATA Chairman Kevin Burch, President of Jet Express, Dayton, Ohio. “I’d like to thank these individuals, and the entire staff at ATA, for the work they do for us and our industry.”
