UW Provision Company, in a joint effort with Middleton Farmers Cooperative, and U.S. Oil will build a new GAIN®Clean Fuel compressed natural gas station to be located at the Middleton Farmers Cooperative facility, 1755 Pleasant View Road in Middleton, Wisc. The new GAIN station will supply UW Provision’s fleet, which delivers meat and specialized food products across the Midwest. It will also provide other carriers and the general public with access to CNG.

Within the agreement, Middleton Farmers Cooperative will host the GAIN®Clean Fuel station and UW Provision will convert up to eight of its fleet of 20 box trucks to CNG. In exchange, U.S. Oil will construct the GAIN station and supply UW Provision’s anchor fleet with CNG fuel annually for 10 years.
“This is a great opportunity for us to provide another benefit to the area,” said David Rischmueller, General Manager for Middleton Farmers Cooperative. “Natural gas is an abundant domestic alternative energy source and the Cooperative must be able to offer this product to our customers in the future,” Rischmueller said. “Getting into the market gives our company a competitive advantage, and with CNG use growing throughout the United States, we want to be a part of that trend by providing customers convenient access to it.”
The new partnership delivers ease of access to CNG for UW Provision’s fleet, and establishes another strategically located GAIN®Clean Fuel CNG fueling site in the Midwest. “This is a significant partnership for us,” said Bill Renz, general manager for Gain Clean Fuel. “We’re able to provide an anchor CNG facility to UW Provision to help them reduce fuel costs and emissions. It also creates opportunities for other area carriers to consider converting their fleets to operate on CNG as this facility will be open for public use.”
U.S. Oil currently operates 12 GAIN®Clean Fuel stations and is in the process of constructing 12 more stations. “We continue to see impressive growth in the demand for CNG stations throughout the United States and in Wisconsin,” Renz said. “We hope that other regional carriers take advantage of this station and our network of GAIN stations as an incentive to consider converting their fleets.”
U.S. Oil plans to have more than 100 GAIN®Clean Fuel stations operating within the next three years. “Our goal is to have a GAIN network in place that will provide easy access to CNG for local, regional and national carriers,” Renz explains. “To achieve this, we are actively seeking partnerships with carriers that are seeking to benefit by converting their fleets to CNG.”
One of the main advantages for fleets converting to CNG is that it is a cost-effective alternative to diesel fuel, offering a savings of more than $2 per gallon equivalent. In addition, CNG is environmentally friendlier than diesel fuel which helps carriers achieve their green initiatives.
The new station in Middleton, like all other GAIN stations, will provide easy-access, fast-fill capabilities. The stations also have fleet card acceptance capabilities for trucker convenience and provide reliability to insure that fleets have a consistent fuel source.
