Platts RigData, a forecasting and analytics unit of S&P Global Platts, has announced that the U.S. rig count for April 2017 was 971, up 70 (8%) from March 2017, and up 502 (107%) from April 2016. This rig count includes U.S. onshore, U.S. inland waters and U.S. offshore Gulf of Mexico drilling rigs.

 

  • April U.S. land rig count: 922, up 70 from the previous month and up 510 from April 2016.
  • April U.S. inland waters and Gulf of Mexico rig count: 49, flat to the previous month, and down 8 from April 2016.
