With more than 2,700 stores throughout the eastern United States, employees at Speedway know that it takes differentiation and benchmarking to be the best at what they do, whether it’s in the products they sell or how they give back to communities they serve.

In this week’s Convenience Matters podcast, “Miracles by Speedway,” cohosts Jeff Lenard of NACS and John Eichberger of the Fuels Institute talk to Glenn Plumby, Senior Vice President of Operations at Speedway LLC, about the importance of benchmarking against other industry companies to be a strong retailer.

Plumby also talked about how deeply Speedway is committed to community involvement, and as the nation’s largest contributor within the convenience store industry to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

“While business strategy is focused on the ‘head’ and numbers, it’s just as much around the ‘heart’ and how you actively engage customers within your community,” said Lenard.

A new Convenience Matters podcast episode is released every week, focusing on topics related to convenience stores. Episodes of Convenience Matters can be downloaded on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher and at Convenience-Matters.com. The podcast has been downloaded in more than 70 countries and total downloads per week have doubled over the past year.
