U.S. propane marketers North Star Energy, based in Aberdeen, S.D., and Brooks Gas, based in Marshfield, Mo., have recently become members of Alliance AutoGas. Alliance AutoGas (www.allianceautogas.com) is an international network comprised of more than 120 independent propane marketers and authorized conversion centers throughout North America, providing a comprehensive propane autogas solution to medium and heavy-duty fleets.

North Star Energy LLC services approximately 3,000 propane customers in South and North Dakota, providing propane bulk, cylinder, cylinder exchange and transport services for residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural uses. North Star Energy maintains supply connections with several different suppliers of propane at terminals close to our bulk plants, with propane storage over 300,000 gallons.

“We are very excited to be a member partner of Alliance AutoGas,” notes Terry Heinz, General Manager at North Star Energy. “North Star Energy has been interested in the autogas industry for quite some time but did not really know how to get it all off the ground. After doing some research and contacting other Alliance members, we decided this would be a good fit for us. Alliance AutoGas provided us with direction and has already overcome some of the hurdles of introducing the concept into our fleets. NSE additionally needed to create a market for propane year round instead of just counting on the drying and heating seasons. This makes autogas a very key product to the continued success of our business and providing savings to our customers.”

Brooks Gas Co. is a 60 year old 4th generation family business, building a reputation in three locations as a dependable propane gas supplier that has seen steady growth over the past several decades. They pride themselves on providing excellent customer service with a personal touch.

Adds Brooks Gas V.P. John Brooks, “Brooks Gas and their entire fleet of vehicles have always operated on propane. The innovations and improvements that Alliance Autogas has brought to our industry will make operating equipment and vehicles easier. We strongly believe that Alliance AutoGas will be able to increase public awareness of propane as a reliable source of autogas and allow our business to grow in new markets.”

Propane-converted public and private fleets that work with Alliance AutoGas will reduce emissions and fuel costs simultaneously, all while using a domestic-made fuel. Current Alliance Autogas customers, which range from national transportation companies, taxi & shuttle fleets, law enforcement and private fleets throughout North America, are experiencing significant fuel cost savings and reduced maintenance when compared to conventional gasoline-powered vehicles.
