Keynote Speaker: Natalie Stavas, M.D.
Natalie Stavas, M.D., provides fascinating insights on the importance of altruism, along with strategies for conquering fear and finding meaning in a chaotic world.
Natalie, who is an attending physician at the Boston Children’s Hospital and an instructor at the Harvard Medical School, is an avid runner whose philosophy for success is “You run toward that which you fear and that which challenges you.” The power of this philosophy was never more evident than on April 15, 2013, as she neared the finish line of the Boston Marathon and heard the bombs detonate. Instead of turning and running away with the crowd, she ran toward the chaos and saved four lives that day.
After the bombings, Natalie became a mentor for Sole Train, a non-profit guiding inner-city youth on a path toward their full potential through running. She also travels regularly to Haiti to provide medical care to children and help strengthen that nation’s fragile medical infrastructure.
Natalie has been honored by President Obama, featured on CNN, BBC, CBC and Fox News, and has also appeared in Time, People, Runner’s World, Sports Illustrated, the New York Times, LA Times and The New Yorker.
