Gulf Oil LP, one of the fastest growing branded marketers of energy products in the U.S., today announced a new partnership with Bumpers Oil Company, a distributor of petroleum products in Alabama.
The new relationship returns the iconic motor fuel brand to communities in “The Yellowhammer State” for the first time in two decades.

Bumpers Oil Company, LLC, a family owned and operated company headquartered in Jackson, Ala., has already converted three gasoline stations in its service area – two in Jackson and one in Grove Hill – to the Gulf brand. The company is also working on plans to raise the Gulf flag at as many as six additional sites in the months ahead.

Chris Bumpers, owner of Bumpers Oil, said, “We turned to Gulf because it is a brand with a trusted history and great reputation. Our customers love to see the iconic orange and blue logo flying high in Alabama once again, and they feel great about filling their tanks with Gulf gas. We know our partnership will achieve great things for both of our companies.” Bumpers Oil currently owns four gasoline retail centers and distributes fuel to 30 more.

“Bumpers Oil is a terrific partner for us as we continue our national expansion and move back into areas of Alabama that haven’t seen the Gulf brand in over twenty years,” said Gulf Oil Senior Vice President and Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Rick Dery. “We are very pleased to be providing their customers with quality products and services at competitive rates.”

Gulf Oil pioneered the concept of branded product sales in the early 20th century by selling gasoline in containers and from pumps marked with the distinctive orange disc Gulf logo.
Customers during this period sought out Gulf branded stations because they were assured of the quality and consistency of its gasoline. Quality and consistency remain the hallmarks of the company.
