Gilbarco Veeder-Root announced that after extensive testing of Passport® version 11.04B, CITGO Petroleum Corporation officially released EMV acceptance software for retailers at the forecourt. Along with EMV, Version 11.04B brings Passport EDGE to the CITGO network and is now available to CITGO branded sites with Gilbarco Veeder-Root dispensers. Passport EDGE is Gilbarco’s new tablet-based POS system which is streamlined for small businesses, available as a low cost subscription, and EMV-ready indoor and outdoor acceptance.
CITGO performed hundreds of thousands of indoor EMV transactions across the United States throughout the last two years, and the Passport POS sites with Version 11.04B software allows CITGO retailers with Gilbarco Veeder-Root dispensers access to outdoor EMV card acceptance capabilities. With this new technology to install EMV chip-card readers at automated fuel pumps, retailers will be able to protect their customers, differentiate their brands, and also become EMV-compliant ahead of the fast-approaching 2020 deadline. In addition to the Forecourt EMV, this new software also introduces several new features and benefits for the CITGO branded locations such as integrated EBT acceptance.
“We’re proud to release both the Passport and the Passport Edge as EMV-ready solutions across our network. Our customers’ payment security is one of our greatest concerns, and protecting our customers’ identity at the pump is something we take very seriously,” said CITGO Vice President Supply and Marketing Karl Schmidt.
By vigilantly working toward enabling EMV compliance, Gilbarco was the first to release software enabling outdoor EMV. Now, with the Forecourt EMV software available for CITGO and other major Heartland Payment System brands, more than 70 percent of Passport customers have forecourt EMV software available to upgrade.
“Our partnership with CITGO to rapidly enable outdoor EMV enables their marketers to get ahead of the pack for turning on Forecourt EMV,” said Director, Retail Solutions at Gilbarco Veeder-Root Eric Bagden. “With the October 2020 liability shift fast approaching, we continue to prioritize our development efforts to ensure Gilbarco customers have great solutions available to maximize site profitability while getting compliant for EMV.”
To begin the upgrade process, please contact your local Gilbarco distributor and ask about the special program for Passport and dispensers for CITGO marketers and helpful documentation about turning on EMV.
