Cumberland Farms reminded high school seniors across its eight-state service area that time is running out to apply for the company’s Believe and Achieve Scholarship Program. With the December 15, 2014 application deadline only two weeks away, the convenience store retailer encourages high school students from the class of 2015 to apply immediately to help make their dreams of attending college a reality.
Since Cumberland Farms started the Believe and Achieve Scholarship program in 2006, the company has awarded over $900,000 in scholarships to hundreds of college-bound young adults. Information regarding the 2015 program, including entry criteria and application instructions, is available online at https://cumberlandfarms.scholarshipamerica.org/.
“In the eight years since we launched our Believe and Achieve Scholarship Program we have helped more than 900 students from the communities we serve attend college,” said Ari Haseotes, CEO of the Cumberland Gulf Group of Companies. “We could not be more proud of the difference we are making in their lives, and hope that this year’s high school seniors will take advantage of these scholarships as well. We urge all ambitious young students to apply before the December 15th deadline.”
As part of Cumberland Farms’ ongoing commitment to supporting youths and fostering their future, the Believe and Achieve program awards $1,000 scholarships to eligible graduating high school seniors across its eight-state service area. This year, 130 students from Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont will receive a total of $130,000 in scholarships.
The program is open to students entering a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school in the fall of 2015 who live within 30 miles of any Cumberland Farms location. Scholarships are awarded based on both academic performance as well as financial need, and the winners will be notified in the spring of 2015. Previous winners have attended a wide range of institutions including Cornell, Yale, Central Maine Community College, the University of Michigan, Florida State University, the University of Pennsylvania, the College of New Jersey, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton University and more.
Cumberland Farms formalized its “Doing Good” Corporate Giving Program eight years ago, and the company has since donated millions of dollars in cash and products to causes that directly benefit thousands of young people through scholarships, direct-to-school programs, youth sports, local fundraising and more.
