The National Council of Chain Restaurants (NCCR) urged the Senate to move quickly to confirm CKE Restaurants CEO Andrew Puzder as Secretary of Labor, saying he would work to balance the interests of employers and employees.
“Andy knows firsthand the importance of recruiting and cultivating talented employees and the challenges faced by small businesses around the country in navigating an oftentimes complex web of statutory and regulatory requirements imposed by the federal government,” NCCR Executive Director Rob Green said. “Once confirmed, Andy Puzder will be an advocate for balanced federal policy at the U.S. Department of Labor, which benefits all stakeholders, including chain restaurants, small business and, most importantly, their millions of team members employed in local communities around the country.
“We look forward to prompt Senate review and approval of this important nomination and ask that you vote to support Andy Puzder,” Green concluded.
Green’s comments came in a letter to Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander and other committee members ahead of a confirmation hearing scheduled for Thursday. CKE is an NCCR member company.
