20120827-ari-haseotesThe Cumberland Gulf Group, which includes Cumberland Farms, the highly successful convenience store chain, and Gulf Oil L.P. one of the nation’s fastest growing branded marketers of energy products, announced that Ari N. Haseotes has been named CEO. Haseotes, grandson of founders Vasilios and Aphrodite Haseotes, began working for the company nearly 12 years ago, most recently serving as the president and group chief operating officer and also a member of the Board of Directors.

Haseotes succeeds Lily Bentas, who has been acting CEO, and will continue in her role as chairman of the board. “Ari has worked for years at all levels of the Company, contributing in significant ways to the continued growth and success of our iconic brands,” said Bentas. “He is perfectly positioned to lead both businesses and continue the tradition of superior customer service, innovation and commitment to excellence that has led us to be one of the most successful privately held companies in the country.”

Haseotes’ career with Cumberland Gulf began in the Cumberland Farms marketing department in 2003. In 2005, he was appointed to the position of vice president of strategic planning and business development in the Cumberland Farms finance department and became a member of the Board of Directors. He was named vice president of marketing in 2007, and served in that position until his promotion to president and chief operating officer in 2008. He was appointed president and group chief operating officer of Cumberland Gulf in 2013. Haseotes holds a B.S. in business management from Boston College and a M.B. A. from Harvard University.
