Aloha Petroleum Supports the American Cancer Society
“We all know someone whose life has been cut short or affected by this terrible disease, and we are pleased that we can play a role in helping the American Cancer Society fund its many volunteer patient service programs and research,” said Gary Altman, general manager of company operated stores for Aloha Petroleum, Ltd. “Mahalo to our generous customers who made this donation possible.”
Thousands of ACS volunteers serve Island residents through field offices on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Hawaii Island, Molokai and Guam. According to the ACS, approximately 4,700 people in Hawaii will be diagnosed with cancer, and 2,000 island residents will die of cancer each year.
“With this contribution, Aloha Petroleum joins the American Cancer Society in its efforts to eliminate cancer as a major health problem,” said Lani Almanza, senior representative of community engagement, at the American Cancer Society. “This generosity will help members of our community to stay well by making information available about cancer, its causes, its preventive measures and treatments. It will also help them get well by providing direct services to patients undergoing cancer treatments. By keeping cancer a priority issue with our legislators, it helps fight back against this illness, and helps to save countless lives for future generations by funding cancer research to find cures.”
