Shell Oil Company was honored in late September with the prestigious PRISM award for Technology in Payroll by the American Payroll Association (APA) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Shell Oil Company was selected for the award because a new metrics reporting process was implemented by the payroll department to share data among multiple country payroll and the in-house shared services teams in three regional centers. This and several other automation and streamlining advances enabled the company to greatly reduce costs in several areas.

“Shell Oil has consistently demonstrated their implementation of multiple technologies and new processes in an intelligent and creative way to ensure its payroll department operates with more accuracy and efficiency,” said Dan Maddux, executive director of the APA. “Shell Oil stands as an example of how the payroll department can contribute vastly to the overall well-being of a company. “

The PRISM awards recognize companies that lead the accounts payable and payroll industries with innovative practices in the areas of technology, performance and process improvement. The APA presented the awards at its 2014 Fall Forum conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
